Developing Your Personal Brand Map, Part 5: ImpactGwen Witherspoon
Creating these maps as simple visual representations of your brand will give you great insight that you can use to build on and refer back to quickly in the middle of any situation. You can start off your day with a glance at your maps. They will help you focus on the task at hand. You can be reminded of the uniqueness that you bring to your efforts. You will be encouraged and gain confidence in the possibility of what you’re trying to develop. I hope you learn how to celebrate every aspect of your personality and who you are and what you have to offer.
You Are God’s Greatest Work
You may have noticed a pattern. Each personality dimension map has seven components. In biblical symbology, the number 7 represents spiritual perfection, and I am delighted to learn that it’s a symbol of God’s work. I have designed three 11” x 17” sheets labeled Identity Map, Influence Map, and Impact Map, and here’s a summary of the seven:
- Identity Map – thinking pattern, behavior style, fears, motivations, strengths, values, calling
- Influence Map – ideas, objective, roadblocks, perception by others, message, role in groups, point of influence
They are intentionally sparse so that you can have room to add color, pictures, and anything you want. They are a framework that I created for my own use. Whenever I shared them with others, it always became a revelatory event. You need a way of seeing yourself that brings clarity to where you’ve been, and who you are intrinsically.
But it also infuses with me with more courage to make very clear decisions that I’m kind of wrestling with, right. There’s some things that I feel like, I should go this way but if I go that way that feels so unsure because I’ve haven’t been that way. It’s like I believe a certain thing about my future and I feel like if I walk through this particular door, that I will be going in the right direction but it’s still harder to make the decision because it’s still unknown.
